Bayview Primary School

In 2018 Bayview School approached us with concept designs for a new play space that their pupils had helped create.  The designs were based around the four school houses – Tane Mahuta, Tumatauenga, Ruaumoka and Tangaroa.

We worked with the school, taking them through our collaborative design approach and actively included both staff and children to help them refine their concepts into a compliant and play value packed playground that the whole school can enjoy.  The vibrant playground features a central elevated tower with customised panels that represent each of the school’s four houses.  The tower is surrounded by a circuit of connected play elements which offer varying levels of balance, climbing and upper body challenge and can accommodate a huge number of children at any one time. The playground was installed in January 2020, ready for the start of the new school year

Principal Diane Raynes says:

The Playground People have worked alongside our staff and students from the very beginning to provide a playground that meets the needs of our students. They are responsive, reflective, flexible and so accommodating. This company understands schools and children and we now have something that is unique that will provide our students with fun and challenge for years to come. Thank you Playground People!

Here is what the kids had to say:

I love the new playground because on the highest part I can climb right to the top and it is difficult. Riley West Year 6

I love the spinning circle bars because I can use just one hand and I like that they spin around. Nathan Cray Year 6

I like the slide because it is fast and bumpy! Brearna Farr Year 5

I love the climbing wall because it is quite challenging. Lucas Fan Year 6
