Located north of Auckland, Parakai School needed a playground that could bring their whole school together – from curious five-year-olds to confident Year 8 students. After winning the project through a competitive tender, Playground People delivered a design that was both creative and practical, making the most of the space left by the previous playground while working around existing shade sail poles.
The new custom PlatinumPlay modular structure offers something for everyone: climbing, sliding, balancing and upper body challenges with plenty of elevated space for older students to relax and connect. The graduated levels of difficulty mean younger kids can grow into the space over time, keeping the playground engaging for years to come.
The team made sure the process included student voice, considered a wide range of needs, and kept health and safety front and centre throughout installation.
Principal Yolanda Choromanski says:
"The team and children at Parakai School love our new playground. From the very start of the project Mellisa showed professionalism and delivered . She took time to talk with our children and asked them what they liked, planned according to our budget and made the project seamless. Thank you for making our playground a safe, fun place for all students from Year 1-8."
